Andrew Revadillo, Anna Lunan, Jack Mitchell, Kenneth Murphy, Douglas Murdie

TL;DR
A new physical health clinic improved monitoring of patients on depot antipsychotics and clozapine in Edinburgh, but more work is needed to reach full coverage.
Contribution
Establishing a dedicated physical health clinic led to measurable improvements in monitoring for mental health patients on high-risk medications.
Findings
Patients attending the clinic had significantly better monitoring across all health domains compared to non-attendees.
Average monitoring completeness increased from 30% before the clinic to 60% in 2024.
Despite improvements, only 37% of eligible patients attended the clinic, indicating room for growth.

Monitoring the physical health of patients receiving these medications is a key part of delivering safe and effective care. This weekly clinic was established in NWCMHT in 2023 focusing on those prescribed depot antipsychotic medication and clozapine. We aim to assess the impact of this service development on patient care. Methods: Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network publication 131 was used as the gold standard, which cites 9 domains to monitor annually – past…
