## TL;DR

This paper reports the complete genome sequence of a new Dehalobacter strain that can dechlorinate chlorophenol compounds.

## Contribution

The study provides the first complete genome of a Dehalobacter strain involved in chlorophenol dechlorination, including 40 reductive dehalogenase genes.

## Key findings

- Strain CP belongs to the Dehalobacter genus and is part of a chlorophenol-dechlorinating consortium.
- The genome contains a 2.94 Mb circular chromosome with a 44.5% G + C content.
- It encodes 40 reductive dehalogenase homologous genes, suggesting a strong dechlorination capability.

## Abstract

Strain CP, a novel member affiliated with the genus Dehalobacter, was identified in an anaerobic consortium capable of 4-chlorophenol-to-phenol reductive dechlorination. The complete genome of strain CP comprises a 2.94 Mb circular chromosome with a G + C content of 44.5% and encodes 40 reductive dehalogenase homologous genes.
