TL;DR
This study examines how psychosis during pregnancy and childbirth is managed in a psychiatric unit and suggests improvements to patient care.
Contribution
The study identifies gaps in documentation and follow-up care for perinatal psychosis patients and proposes standardized pathways to improve care.
Findings
Only 9% of patients had perinatal family history documented, highlighting a critical gap in care.
81.8% of patients had perinatal team involvement during admission, but post-discharge follow-up was inconsistent.
Standardized clerking and discharge planning are recommended to improve care quality and outcomes.
