TL;DR
This study explores how social factors and health literacy affect patients with diabetic ketoacidosis in emergency departments.
Contribution
The study identifies specific social determinants of health and health literacy levels in DKA patients, suggesting ED-based interventions.
Findings
Nearly all patients reported at least one unmet social determinant of health need.
High levels of health literacy were observed among DKA patients.
Common unmet needs included physical activity, mental health, and financial strain.
