Siew Fai Liew, Weishan Li

TL;DR
A 56-year-old woman was initially misdiagnosed with a psychiatric disorder but later found to have frontal variant Alzheimer’s dementia, highlighting the need for better awareness and specialized care.
Contribution
This case report emphasizes the diagnostic challenges of frontal variant Alzheimer’s dementia and advocates for improved clinical awareness and long-term follow-up.
Findings
The patient showed executive dysfunction and memory deficits with frontal and parietal brain atrophy.
Amyloid PET confirmed Alzheimer’s pathology despite initial psychiatric misdiagnosis.
The case highlights the importance of neuropsychological and neuroimaging assessments in atypical dementia presentations.
