Abstract
Sensory processing disorder (SPD) involves difficulties in receiving and responding to sensory information from the environment. Their development is influenced by various factors during the perinatal period and early childhood. Children with sensory integration disorders often struggle with everyday situations and stress, typically experiencing either sensory hypersensitivity or hyposensitivity. Their visit to a doctor’s office presents challenges for both the child and the medical practitioner, requiring active cooperation from parents. This review aims to analyze the challenges faced by clinicians in managing pediatric patients with SPD during healthcare visits, with a specific focus on dental settings and to propose effective communication and management strategies.
