Pauline Van Ngoc, Beatrice Scholtes, Jean-Luc Belche, Melissa Ceuterick

TL;DR
This study explores strategies to prevent long-term use of benzodiazepine receptor agonists in Belgium through primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention approaches.
Contribution
The study introduces a policy Delphi approach to evaluate targeted prevention strategies for long-term benzodiazepine receptor agonist use.
Findings
There is strong consensus on the need for awareness campaigns for healthcare professionals and the public about BZRA withdrawal risks.
Training programs for healthcare providers to manage BZRA withdrawal effectively received significant support.
Some recommendations like peer support systems and increased remuneration for follow-up consultations had less agreement.
