## Abstract

Das Interesse der HNO-Heilkunde an der Schilddrüse steigt. Das vorliegende Referat gibt einen Überblick als Einstiegshilfe in das Thema. Zuerst werden die chirurgische Anatomie und die Physiologie dargestellt. Im Weiteren werden die häufigsten benignen und malignen Erkrankungen der Schilddrüse skizziert. Der Fokus der Darstellung der Therapie liegt auf der operativen Therapie mit all ihren perioperativen Aspekten und ihren Komplikationen und deren Management.
