Dysphagia education in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: student self-competency ratings during their dysphagia course
Sana Smaoui, Sandhya Ganesan, Trish Williams

TL;DR
This study examines how Ethiopian speech language therapy students rate their own competency in dysphagia care before and after clinical exposure.
Contribution
The study provides insights into self-perceived competency in dysphagia care among students in a newly established SLT program in Ethiopia.
Findings
Students with prior SLT experience reported higher self-perceived competency after clinical exposure.
Clinical exposure significantly increased self-rated competency in both general and direct patient care domains.
Female students showed notable differences in self-perceived competency ratings post-clinical exposure.
