Abstract
Purpose The growing disparities and vulnerabilities in healthcare have contributed to alarmingly high maternal mortality rates for Black/African American women. In the United States, the maternal mortality rate is exponentially higher than that of other industrialized nations. Furthermore, within this nation, Black women face a disproportionately greater risk of maternal death. Therefore, blending the knowledge from these realities, it is evident that the immense number of women dying in our industrialized nation, compared to others, are primarily Black women. With knowledge of this devastating disparity, the fundamental objective of this project is to provide a voice for the Black/African American individuals whose lives are claimed prematurely due to systemic health disparities and lack of quality care.
