Abstract
Prostate cancer is a prevalent malignancy among men and remains a major cause of cancer-related mortality. The increasing incidence of cases underscores the need for advancements in diagnostic methodologies. Artificial intelligence (AI) is emerging as a transformative tool in addressing challenges in prostate cancer diagnostics, particularly in the analysis of histopathological whole-slide images and the refinement of algorithmic Gleason grading. Traditional diagnostic approaches, including the Gleason grading system and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing, are subject to variability and inefficiencies, placing a significant burden on pathologists and potentially delaying accurate diagnoses.
