## TL;DR

This paper presents the genome sequence of the short-beaked common dolphin, including detailed assembly and gene annotation.

## Contribution

The study provides a high-quality genome assembly and gene annotation for Delphinus delphis, including sex chromosomes and mitochondrial DNA.

## Key findings

- The genome assembly is 2,663.52 megabases long with 88.76% scaffolded into 23 chromosomal pseudomolecules.
- The mitochondrial genome is 16.39 kilobases long and fully assembled.
- Gene annotation identified 17,797 protein-coding genes using Ensembl.

## Abstract

We present a genome assembly from a male specimen of
Delphinus delphis (short-beaked common dolphin; Chordata; Mammalia; Artiodactyla; Delphinidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 2,663.52 megabases. Most of the assembly (88.76%) is scaffolded into 23 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X and Y sex chromosomes. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 16.39 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly at Ensembl identified 17,797 protein-coding genes.
