Manuel Castillo-Angeles, Katie Foley, Barbara Okafor, Anupama Mehta

TL;DR
This study found that racial and insurance-related disparities affect where burn survivors are discharged to after hospitalization, impacting their access to rehabilitation services.
Contribution
The study identifies specific racial and insurance-based disparities in discharge destinations for burn survivors, highlighting barriers to rehabilitation access.
Findings
Hispanic patients had lower probabilities of being discharged to home health care or rehabilitation compared to White patients.
Uninsured patients were less likely to be discharged to rehabilitation compared to those with private insurance.
Public insurance was associated with increased likelihood of discharge to rehabilitation compared to being discharged home.
