## TL;DR

This study compares oxytocin and carbetocin for managing the third stage of labor, finding similar side effects but better blood loss control with carbetocin.

## Contribution

The study provides new evidence on the comparative effectiveness of carbetocin versus oxytocin in reducing blood loss during the third stage of labor.

## Key findings

- No significant difference in side effects between oxytocin and carbetocin (p = 0.8).
- Carbetocin was more effective in minimizing blood loss during the third stage of labor.

## Abstract

The third stage of labor lasts from the time the baby is born until the maternal placenta is delivered. Therefore, it is of interest
to evaluate the effectiveness and side effects of oxytocin and carbetocin for third-trimester labor management. Hence, we divided 95
patients into two groups: group I received oxytocin and group II received carbetocin. We measured blood loss at 72 hours duration and
further examined vitals as well as side effects after delivery. We found that there was no significant difference in side effects
between the two groups (p value = 0.8). However, that carbetocin appeared to be a more effective alternative for minimizing blood loss
in the third stage of labor.
