TL;DR
This study compares patients with schizophrenia taking clozapine alone or with other drugs, finding that earlier clozapine use may improve outcomes.
Contribution
The study provides insights into treatment patterns and outcomes for clozapine use in treatment-resistant schizophrenia.
Findings
Patients on clozapine monotherapy had fewer prior antipsychotics and hospitalizations.
No significant differences in age or clozapine dose were found between monotherapy and combination therapy groups.
Prompt clozapine initiation may improve treatment outcomes in resistant schizophrenia.
