TL;DR
The study explores how narcissistic traits and self-objectification relate to self-harm in young women with and without depression.
Contribution
It identifies distinct narcissistic subtypes linked to self-harm severity in clinical and healthy groups.
Findings
In depressed women, self-harm severity correlates with 'deficit narcissism'.
Healthy women show stronger links between self-harm and 'destructive narcissism' and self-comparison.
Self-objectification is not connected to narcissistic traits in clinically depressed women.
