TL;DR
This study examines risk factors and characteristics of suicide attempts among psychiatric patients to improve prevention strategies.
Contribution
The study identifies specific risk factors and predictors for suicidal behaviors and recurrence in a psychiatric hospital setting.
Findings
Hospitalizations for suicide attempts increased from 0.7% to 2.25% between 2018 and 2022.
Suicidal attempters were predominantly female, urban, and had mood disorders and poor family support.
Suicidal recurrence was linked to mood disorders, stress factors, and poor psychiatric follow-up.
