H.-G. Ji, S. Kang, H. Bae, G. Kim, J.-W. Hur

TL;DR
Digital interventions like VR and apps can effectively reduce anxiety symptoms, but their success depends on factors like age and type of anxiety.
Contribution
This study provides the first comprehensive meta-analysis of all digital intervention modalities for all anxiety disorders.
Findings
Digital interventions reduced anxiety symptoms with medium to large effect sizes (g = 0.78).
VR-based interventions showed the largest effect size (g = 0.98) compared to mobile or internet-based interventions.
Effect sizes were associated with the mean age of participants (β = 0.04).
Abstract
Anxiety disorders are one of the most common mental disorders, yet only less than 20% of people with anxiety disorders receive adequate treatment. We searched Embase, PubMed, PsycINFO, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library for randomized controlled trials examining the therapeutic efficacy of digital interventions for individuals with anxiety disorders from database…
