Abstract
The rapidly increasing prevalence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in Canada, combined with an aging population at higher risk of age-related comorbidities, will place a significant strain on gastroenterology clinics and the broader healthcare system. Changes in care delivery are necessary to meet the growing demand for health services among people living with IBD. To understand the extent and type of evidence focused on models of outpatient care delivery for disease management in individuals with IBD. A scoping review was conducted by searching MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, and PsycINFO (from inception to March 4, 2024) to identify studies describing or evaluating models of care for managing people with IBD in outpatient settings.
