TL;DR
This study explores how children who use wheelchairs participate in organized physical activities and identifies barriers to their inclusion.
Contribution
The study provides insights into the participation patterns and barriers faced by children using wheelchairs in organized physical activities.
Findings
Children using wheelchairs participate in organized physical activities for an average of 166.9 minutes per week.
Main barriers include lack of wheelchair-sport opportunities, accessibility issues, and insufficient competence among teachers and coaches.
Participants only meet 39.7% of the physical activity recommendations through organized activities.
