TL;DR
This study aims to improve COPD and asthma diagnosis in India by empowering local health workers to screen patients and refer them for proper care.
Contribution
The study introduces a novel approach by training peripheral health workers to screen for COPD and asthma, improving early diagnosis and treatment accessibility.
Findings
Empowering ASHA workers to screen COPD and asthma can increase early diagnosis rates.
Using portable spirometers at wellness centers improves access to diagnosis in rural areas.
Follow-ups by ASHA workers may enhance treatment compliance and reduce exacerbations.
