TL;DR
This study assesses the lack of pediatric anesthesia resources in Somaliland and highlights the need for significant improvements to meet global standards.
Contribution
The study provides the first comprehensive assessment of pediatric anesthesia capacity in Somaliland using WHO-WFSA standards.
Findings
Somaliland falls far short of WHO-WFSA targets for anesthesiologists, operating rooms, and ventilators.
Urban and private hospitals have better resources compared to rural and government hospitals.
There is a critical need for increased investment in anesthesia infrastructure and workforce.
