## TL;DR

This paper presents the genome sequence of the Brown Rustic moth, including its chromosomal structure and gene annotations.

## Contribution

The study provides a high-quality genome assembly and gene annotations for Charanyca ferruginea.

## Key findings

- The genome assembly spans 854.6 megabases and includes 31 chromosomal pseudomolecules.
- Gene annotation identified 23,126 protein-coding genes using Ensembl.
- The mitochondrial genome is 15.36 kilobases in length.

## Abstract

We present a genome assembly from an individual female
Charanyca ferruginea (the Brown Rustic; Arthropoda; Insecta; Lepidoptera; Noctuidae). The genome sequence is 854.6 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 31 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the Z and W sex chromosomes. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 15.36 kilobases in length. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 23,126 protein coding genes.
