Langalibalele Honey Mabuza, Mosa Moshabela

TL;DR
This study explores how medical students and trainers in South Africa experience primary health care training, highlighting challenges and opportunities for improvement.
Contribution
The study provides new insights into the experiences and challenges of PHC training for medical students in South African medical schools.
Findings
Students and trainers view PHC as an approach to health rather than a level of care.
Training in tertiary centers by specialists and implicit training methods were identified as challenges.
Distributed training platforms with specialist outreach are recommended for better PHC education.
