Tammy L. Prinsloo, Karin Joubert

TL;DR
This study translated and adapted a balance confidence scale into Sepedi to assess balance confidence in older adults in rural South Africa.
Contribution
The study provides a culturally adapted and reliable version of the ABC scale for Sepedi-speaking older adults.
Findings
The Sepedi version of the ABC scale (ABC-S) showed high intra- and inter-rater reliability.
Ten items in the original scale were modified due to cultural or semantic inappropriateness.
Elderly participants had high self-perceived balance confidence, with an average score of 81.3.
