TL;DR
This study examines how handball teams use the 7 vs. 6 empty goal attack in major tournaments from 2020 to 2023, comparing coaches' opinions with actual game data.
Contribution
The study combines observational data and coach surveys to reveal patterns in 7 vs. 6 attack usage and effectiveness in handball.
Findings
Top teams showed higher effectiveness in 7 vs. 6 attacks compared to lower-ranked teams.
Teams used 7 vs. 6 more in the second half and based on game score differences.
Coaches perceive little advantage in using 7 vs. 6 despite agreeing it is possible.
