TL;DR
This study explores how primary care physicians diagnose and manage non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, finding differences based on patient insurance and clinic practices.
Contribution
The study provides new insights into PCP practices and perceptions regarding NAFLD diagnosis and management, highlighting disparities influenced by insurance status.
Findings
PCPs vary in how they diagnose and manage NAFLD, with differences based on patient insurance status.
Uninsured patients often receive only lifestyle advice without specialist referrals or imaging.
Some PCPs actively help patients with diet and exercise, while others give general advice or refer to dietitians.
