M E Lau, L W Liu, C H Parker

TL;DR
This study finds that nutrition counseling for irritable bowel syndrome is often described inconsistently in the literature, limiting effective dietary therapy delivery.
Contribution
The study is the first to systematically summarize how nutrition counseling is described in dietary interventions for IBS.
Findings
Nutrition counseling is mentioned in all 31 reviewed publications, but descriptions vary significantly.
No publication included all important components of nutrition counseling in dietary interventions for IBS.
Inconsistent descriptions limit the ability to deliver optimal dietary therapies for IBS patients.
