## TL;DR

This paper provides the genome sequence of the Variegated Golden Tortrix, including gene annotations and sex chromosomes.

## Contribution

The study presents a high-quality genome assembly and gene annotation for Archips xylosteana.

## Key findings

- The genome assembly spans 650.6 megabases and includes 31 chromosomal pseudomolecules.
- Gene annotation identified 19,861 protein-coding genes using Ensembl.
- The mitochondrial genome is 16.39 kilobases in length.

## Abstract

We present a genome assembly from an individual female
Archips xylosteana (the Variegated Golden Tortrix; Arthropoda; Insecta; Lepidoptera; Tortricidae). The genome sequence is 650.6 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 31 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the W and Z sex chromosomes. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 16.39 kilobases in length. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 19,861 protein coding genes.
