TL;DR
This study reviews cancer care trial protocols using Traditional Chinese Medicine to see how well they follow the SPIRIT-TCM 2018 guidelines for reporting.
Contribution
The study is the first to assess concordance with the SPIRIT-TCM Extension 2018 in cancer care trial protocols.
Findings
Most checklist items in the SPIRIT-TCM 2018 had low concordance in published protocols.
Low reporting rates were observed for quality control, safety, and TCM diagnostic patterns.
Few protocols addressed interactions between Western Medicine and TCM interventions.
Abstract
The SPIRIT-TCM Extension 2018 was created to guide the design and reporting of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) clinical trial protocols. This study aims to investigate the extent of concordance with this guideline in the relevant field of cancer care research.
