Ultrapowers of spectral subspaces
Hiroshi Ando, Isaac Goldbring

TL;DR
This paper investigates ultrapowers of spectral subspaces in type III_1 factors within W*-probability spaces, revealing that ultrapower spectral subspaces are proper subsets of the spectral subspaces of ultrapowered algebras, with implications for model theory.
Contribution
It establishes a novel relationship between ultrapowers of spectral subspaces and spectral subspaces of ultrapowered algebras in type III_1 factors, highlighting nontrivial model-theoretic consequences.
Findings
Ultrapower of spectral subspace is a proper subset of the spectral subspace of the ultrapower.
Results apply to W*-probability spaces with type III_1 factors.
Discusses implications for model theory of operator algebras.
Abstract
We prove, for any W-probability space where is a type factor, any nontrivial, proper closed , and any nonprincipal ultrafilter on , that the ultrapower of the spectral subspace is a proper subset of the spectral subspace . We discuss the model-theoretic implications of this result.
