TL;DR
This study synthesizes a sugilite analogue with selective Cr$^{3+}$ accommodation in a milarite framework, revealing minimal Cr occupancy at specific sites and weak magnetic interactions without long-range order.
Contribution
It reports the synthesis and detailed structural and magnetic characterization of a Cr analogue of sugilite with selective octahedral site occupancy.
Findings
Cr occupancy at T2 site is negligible according to X-ray MEM analysis.
Magnetic susceptibility shows weak antiferromagnetic interactions.
No magnetic ordering observed above 1.8 K.
Abstract
We report the synthesis of the Cr analogue of sugilite, KNaCrLiSiO, in the milarite-type framework. Rietveld refinement of a composition-conserving antisite model gives in KNa[CrLi][LiCr]SiO, corresponding to a T2-site Cr occupancy of . X-ray MEM analysis shows no detectable Cr-like density at T2. Magnetic susceptibility indicates weak antiferromagnetic interactions with K and no ordering above 1.8 K.
