TL;DR
This paper reports the first observation and measurement of the branching fraction of the charmless baryonic decay Lambda_b0 to Lambda p p-bar, using LHCb data at 13 TeV.
Contribution
It provides the first measurement of the branching fraction of Lambda_b0 to Lambda p p-bar relative to Lambda_b0 to Lambda K+ K- decay, with significance over 5 sigma.
Findings
Decay observed with 5.1 sigma significance.
Relative branching fraction measured as (5.1 ± 1.3 (stat) ± 0.3 (syst)) × 10^{-2}.
Intermediate charmonium contributions explicitly excluded.
Abstract
A search for the charmless purely baryonic decay is performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of . The signal decay is observed with a significance of 5.1 standard deviations. Its branching fraction is measured for the first time, relative to that of the topologically similar decay . Contributions from intermediate charmonium resonances decaying to the and final states are explicitly excluded with a requirement on the invariant mass of the companion hadron system, , where stands for a proton or a charged kaon. The relative branching…
