TL;DR
This paper proposes a new method to measure the ratios of $b$ hadron production fractions using exclusive semi-leptonic decays, reducing uncertainties and enhancing robustness against new physics contamination.
Contribution
It introduces an independent approach to determine $b$ hadron production ratios via exclusive semi-leptonic decay measurements, improving precision and reliability.
Findings
Current measurements constrain $f_s/f_d$ with 7% uncertainty.
The method benefits from cancellations of experimental and theoretical uncertainties.
Applicable to other $b$ hadron production ratios like $B_c$ and $\\Lambda_b$.
Abstract
Ratios of production fractions of hadrons are a dominant source of uncertainty in many LHC analyses, in particular in measurements with mesons. The currently used value for is based on a combination of hadronic and semi-inclusive semi-leptonic decays, and relies in part on assumptions about the underlying decays that are hard to quantify. We propose an independent alternative method to obtain this quantity by measuring ratios of the exclusive semi-leptonic decays . This method benefits from significant cancellations of both experimental and theoretical uncertainties, as well as robustness against potential contamination from heavy physics beyond the Standard Model. As a proof of principle, we show that current measurements constrain with an uncertainty of , dominated by present experimental uncertainties.…
