TL;DR
This paper introduces a model-independent approach to directly measure the production fractions of charged and neutral B mesons at the S resonance using charmed meson counts, avoiding assumptions.
Contribution
It proposes a novel, assumption-free method based on counting charmed mesons to determine B meson production fractions at B factories.
Findings
Method achieves precision comparable to current world averages.
Relies solely on event yields without underlying assumptions.
Provides statistical tagging of B meson events.
Abstract
This paper presents a detailed description of a model-independent method for the direct measurement of the and production fractions at factories. The method is based on counting single- and double-inclusive charmed meson production at the resonance, providing statistical tagging of and events. A feasibility study indicates that a precision comparable to the current world average can be achieved without making any underlying assumptions, as the calculations rely solely on event yields.
