Gravitational instantons from closed superstring field theory
Ivo Sachs, Xianghang Zhang

TL;DR
This paper investigates the resolution of a $ ext{Z}_2$ orbifold in superstring theory, demonstrating the unobstructed nature of the deformation and reproducing the Eguchi-Hanson gravitational instanton through third-order analysis including $ ext{alpha'}$ corrections.
Contribution
It provides a third-order analysis of orbifold resolution in superstring theory, confirming exact marginality and reproducing gravitational instantons with $ ext{alpha'}$ corrections.
Findings
Third order correction is unobstructed for all moduli.
Reproduces Eguchi-Hanson instanton up to second order.
Includes $ ext{alpha'}$ corrections in the analysis.
Abstract
We test exact marginality of the deformation describing the resolution of a orbifold by analyzing the closed superstring equations of motion to third order in the size, including corrections. We find that the third order correction is unobstructed for all deformation moduli. We are also able to reproduce the Eguchi-Hanson gravitational instanton up to the second order in the field theory limit with a suitable choice of moduli.
