TL;DR
This study tested whether AI-generated personalized letters from the future could boost climate engagement, finding increased empathy but no change in policy support or donations, highlighting limits of narrative interventions.
Contribution
It provides empirical evidence on the effects and limitations of AI-generated personalized climate messages in influencing public attitudes.
Findings
Narratives increased empathic concern for future generations.
No significant effect on climate policy support or donations.
Personalization did not enhance message impact.
Abstract
We examined whether personalized, AI-generated letters from the future can increase public engagement with climate action.
