Measurements of the production of W$^{\pm}$ and Z$^0$ bosons in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV
ALICE Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper reports measurements of W and Z boson production in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV, analyzing decay channels, cross sections, and correlations with charged-particle multiplicity, providing data for testing perturbative QCD models.
Contribution
It presents the first measurements of W and Z boson production and their correlations with charged-particle multiplicity at 13 TeV in pp collisions, using the ALICE detector.
Findings
W boson production increases linearly with charged-particle multiplicity.
Azimuthally correlated hadron production shows a faster-than-linear increase.
Results agree with perturbative QCD calculations using various parton distribution functions.
Abstract
Measurements of the production of the W and Z bosons at midrapidity in pp collisions at TeV with ALICE at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are presented. The W and Z bosons are detected via their (di)electronic decay channels, with the electron reconstruction performed in the midrapidity region (). The -integrated and -differential production cross sections of electrons from W decays in the interval GeV/, as well as the -integrated production cross section of Z bosons, are measured. The results are described by perturbative QCD calculations using different sets of parton distribution functions. The production of W bosons and azimuthally correlated associated hadrons is also measured as a function of the charged-particle multiplicity for the first time at the…
