Higgs decays to four leptons to $\mathcal{O}(1/\Lambda^4)$ in SMEFT
Mario Flores-Hernandez, Adam Martin

TL;DR
This paper investigates Higgs decay processes to four leptons within the SMEFT framework, including effects up to order 1/Λ^4, to identify sensitive observables and potential new angular dependencies from higher-dimensional operators.
Contribution
It extends the analysis of Higgs decays in SMEFT to include dimension-eight effects and explores their impact on angular observables and decay kinematics.
Findings
No new angular structures in h→ℓℓZ decays at 1/Λ^4
New angular dependencies in h→ℓνν̄ℓ̄ decays require fully reconstructible final states
Obscured effects in non-reconstructible final states due to production and decay entanglement
Abstract
We study the decays and within the SMEFT framework and including effects up to , where is the new physics scale suppressing higher dimensional operators. To work to this order, we must include the square of dimension-six operators and the interference of dimension-eight operators with the Standard Model. We study angular asymmetries and other differential decay observables and determine which are most sensitive to effects. While new kinematic structures arising in higher dimensional operators have the potential to induce novel angular dependency, we find this does not occur for . For , new angular…
