TL;DR
This study characterizes the physical properties and evolutionary status of the EL CVn-type binary TIC 399725538, revealing a pulsating main-sequence star and a low-mass white dwarf precursor, contributing to understanding binary evolution.
Contribution
First detailed analysis combining spectroscopy and TESS data for TIC 399725538, identifying pulsations and evolutionary stage of the binary components.
Findings
Component masses: 1.93 and 0.21 solar masses.
Detection of gamma Doradus pulsation in the primary.
The system is a thick-disk EL CVn binary with a pulsating star.
Abstract
We present echelle spectra of TIC 399725538 obtained in Korea and Thailand to investigate the physical properties and evolutionary scenarios of EL CVn-type binaries. The time-series spectra yielded the radial velocities (RVs) of the primary component and its atmospheric parameters, K and km s. Joint modeling of our RVs and the archival TESS data provided component masses of and , radii of and , and luminosities of and . The surface gravity and distance derived from this modeling are consistent with the model-independent obtained from the direct observables and with the Gaia distance. The third light of…
