Ailsa Keating, Ivan Smith, Michael Wemyss

TL;DR
This paper explores instances where symplectic monodromy decomposes from the symplectic mapping class group, illustrating various techniques and raising open questions in the field.
Contribution
It introduces new examples and conjectures regarding the splitting of symplectic monodromy from the symplectic mapping class group.
Findings
Examples of symplectic monodromy splitting off the mapping class group
Formulation of open questions and conjectures
Discussion of techniques for analyzing symplectic monodromy
Abstract
We discuss some examples in which symplectic monodromy (provably or conjecturally) splits off the symplectic mapping class group, hoping to illustrate different techniques and inputs to the arguments. Along the way we formulate several open questions and conjectures.
