Ting-Yan Li, Zi-Yue Bai, Xiang Liu

TL;DR
This study models the production of high-spin $ ho_J$ and $ ho_J$ mesons in $ ext{pi}^- p$ reactions, successfully fitting existing data and predicting measurable cross sections for various spin states to guide future experiments.
Contribution
The paper introduces a comprehensive effective Lagrangian framework to predict high-spin meson production cross sections, extending understanding beyond existing measurements.
Findings
Successfully reproduces cross sections for $ ho_3(1690)$ and $ ho_3(1690)$.
Predicts measurable cross sections for higher and lower spin mesons.
Shows these mesons have forward-peaked angular distributions.
Abstract
In this work, we perform a comprehensive investigation of the production of high-spin and mesons () in reactions using an effective Lagrangian approach. By constructing the relevant -channel processes and calibrating the model with a single adjustable parameter fitted to existing data, we successfully reproduce the measured total and differential cross sections for the states and . Within the same framework, we predict the production cross sections for their lower- and higher-spin partners: , , , , , and . Our results show that these states exhibit measurable cross sections with characteristically forward-peaked angular distributions, underscoring their strong potential for observation in future meson-beam…
