TL;DR
This study examines how different levels of AI disclosure detail in news articles influence reader trust and behavior, revealing a trade-off between transparency and trust that varies with disclosure depth.
Contribution
It provides empirical evidence on how disclosure detail levels affect trust and decision-making in news consumption, highlighting the complexity of transparency in AI-assisted journalism.
Findings
Detailed disclosures decrease trust but increase source-checking behavior.
One-line disclosures maintain trust but encourage source verification.
Most participants prefer detailed disclosures, with some favoring on-demand formats.
