TL;DR
This paper proves that the class of spikes and their minors has a finite set of excluded minors, resolving a problem posed by Mayhew et al. in 2021.
Contribution
It establishes the finiteness of the excluded minors for the class of spikes and their minors, providing a complete characterization.
Findings
Finite set of excluded minors for the class of spikes proved
Complete description of all excluded minors provided
Addresses a previously open problem from 2021
Abstract
Mayhew et al.\ (2021) posed the problem of showing that the minor-closed class of spikes and their minors has a finite set of excluded minors and describing all of them. In this paper, we resolve this problem.
