Carmen \'Alvarez Roa, Yunus Can G\"ultekin, Vincent van Vliet, Menno van den Hout, Chigo Okonkwo, and Alex Alvarado

TL;DR
This paper compares log-normal and Gamma-Gamma models for irradiance fluctuations in weak turbulence FSO links, demonstrating that Gamma-Gamma provides a more accurate fit based on experimental data.
Contribution
The study provides experimental evidence that the Gamma-Gamma distribution outperforms the traditional log-normal model in weak turbulence conditions.
Findings
Log-normal model fails to accurately describe irradiance fluctuations.
Gamma-Gamma model offers a better fit to experimental data.
Experimental results support using Gamma-Gamma for weak turbulence modeling.
Abstract
Weak turbulence is commonly modeled using the log-normal distribution. Our experimental results show that this distribution fails to capture irradiance fluctuations in this regime. The Gamma-Gamma model is shown to be more accurate.
