On Derived Lie Algebras
Salvatore Siciliano, David A. Towers

TL;DR
This paper explores which Lie algebras can be realized as the derived algebra of some Lie algebra, providing new insights and addressing previously raised questions in the field.
Contribution
It introduces new results that advance understanding of the structure of derived Lie algebras and responds to open questions from related group theory research.
Findings
Characterization of Lie algebras as derived algebras
New conditions for a Lie algebra to be a derived algebra
Resolution of specific questions from prior group theory studies
Abstract
In this paper we investigate the problem of which Lie algebras appear as the derived algebra of a Lie algebra. We present new results that further develop this study and address two questions raised in a paper concerned with the corresponding problem for groups.
