Search for charged Higgs bosons produced in top-quark decays or in association with top quarks and decaying via $H^{\pm} \to \tau^{\pm}\nu_{\tau}$ in 13 TeV $pp$ collisions with the ATLAS detector
ATLAS Collaboration

TL;DR
This study searches for charged Higgs bosons in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV using the ATLAS detector, setting upper limits on their production and decay rates across a wide mass range, with no significant signals observed.
Contribution
First comprehensive search for charged Higgs bosons decaying to tau and neutrino in 13 TeV data, establishing new upper limits over a broad mass spectrum.
Findings
No significant excess over Standard Model background.
Set upper limits on production cross-section times branching ratio.
Constrained branching fractions for top-quark decays to charged Higgs.
Abstract
Charged Higgs bosons produced either in top-quark decays or in association with a top-quark, subsequently decaying via , are searched for in 140 of proton-proton collision data at TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector. Depending on whether the top-quark produced together with the decays hadronically or semi-leptonically, the search targets +jets or +lepton final states, in both cases with a -lepton decaying into a neutrino and hadrons. No significant excess over the Standard Model background expectation is observed. For the mass range of GeV, upper limits at 95% confidence level are set on the production cross-section of the charged Higgs boson times the branching fraction in the range 4.5 pb-0.4 fb. In the mass…
