Jing Wang, Brian J. Rollick, Zhensheng Jia, Bernardo A. Huberman

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates the first integration of quantum key distribution into a standard 20-km, 32-user passive optical network without infrastructure modifications, enabling secure communication at carrier-grade power levels.
Contribution
It introduces a novel method for integrating polarization-encoding decoy-state BB84 QKD into existing PON infrastructure without modifications.
Findings
Successful integration of QKD into a 20-km 32-user PON
Operation at carrier-grade power levels achieved
No modifications needed for existing PON infrastructure
Abstract
We demonstrate for the first time the integration of O-band polarization-encoding decoy-state BB84 QKD into a C-band 20-km single-feeder fiber 32-user coherent PON running at carrier-grade power levels without modifying existing PON infrastructures.
