TL;DR
This study analyzes OPAL data at 130-207 GeV to test for contact interactions in Bhabha scattering, finding potential signals in differential cross sections that suggest new physics beyond the Standard Model.
Contribution
It provides the first analysis of contact interactions using OPAL data at these energies, focusing on differential cross sections for potential new physics signals.
Findings
No significant deviation in total cross sections.
Potential >3σ deviations in differential cross sections.
Indication of possible contact interactions beyond the Standard Model.
Abstract
We used data mainly collected by OPAL experiment to test the signal significance of a parameter , which is equal to zero in SM. For total cross sections, we obtained no derivation of enough significance. But for differential cross sections, some derivation over 3 are observed(statistical uncertainty only), indicating that this contact interaction might exist.
