TL;DR
This study investigates the solid-liquid equilibria and excess enthalpies of acetophenone mixed with various aliphatic amides, using experimental techniques and modeling to understand their thermodynamic behavior.
Contribution
It provides new experimental data and correlations for these binary systems, and compares different predictive models for their thermodynamic properties.
Findings
Solid-liquid equilibria determined for all systems.
Excess enthalpies measured at two temperatures.
Modified UNIFAC model predictions compared with experimental data.
Abstract
Solid-liquid equilibria for the binary systems of acetophenone and {N-methylformamide, or N,Ndimethylformamide, or N,N-dimethylacetamide, or N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone} were determined by the cloudpoint and DSC techniques. For the same systems, excess enthalpies were measured at 293.15 K and 308.15 K by the titration calorimetry. Both types of data were correlated by the Redlich-Kister equation. The description of the solid-liquid equilibria incorporated measured excess enthalpies. The results of the prediction performed by the modified UNIFAC modelwere compared with the experimental data. The observed trends and differences between systems were discussed.
